David Godfrey – Chairman
Following twelve years in the printing industry, David was accepted for ordination in the Church of Ireland. With almost forty years of experience in the management of parish administration and participation in Diocesan, national and ecumenical structures, his work involved chairing meetings and negotiating with government departments. In addition, he is a trustee of a national youth organisation. David Godfrey has been a board member of Here2Help since 2006.
Patricia Smyth – Vice-Chair
Patricia is a retired professionally qualified social worker with over 35 years’ experience in practitioner and management roles both in the statutory and voluntary social work services. Over 20 years of her career encompassed supervisory, management and advisory roles within the adoption services, principally with the Adoption Authority of Ireland and earlier with Pact. Throughout her career she served on several Committees and on a major Research Project established to improve Adoption Services, to advance and to consolidate legislative reform in this area and promote standards of excellence in the practice of social work in adoption.
David Holmes – FCA FCCA
David was a senior partner in O’Connor, Leddy & Holmes for 21 years. He assisted in the establishment of Century Finance Limited, a hire purchase and leasing company, which subsequently became part of Irish Life & Permanent, and established his own Corporate Development Consultancy to advise existing companies and start-up ventures. His diverse experience allowed him to help found and develop RiverDocs, which created new technology for enabling visually impaired and handicapped people access documents on the web, and was group company secretary to an Irish IT company which has since become part of a larger international group.
Peter is a management consultant with PwC specialising in the delivery of large and complex change. He has over fifteen years consulting experience within the public sector having worked across central government, education, health and justice in both Ireland and the UK. Peter was previously Head of Change and Programme Management at Westminster City Council. He was Chair of Straight Talking for 4 years, a leading UK charity in the provision of peer education to support teenage pregnancy and young parenthood. Peter holds a master’s degree in project management and is also a qualified company secretary (ICSA: the Governance Institute).
Claire is a practising barrister specialising in employment and equality law. Claire appears regularly in employment law and civil courts for employees and employers dealing with statutory claims, breach of contract, injunctions, judicial review, personal injuries, etc. Claire is also a published author and regular speaker on employment law issues at conferences and seminars.
Deirdre Pemberton, Services Manager
As a graduate of Trinity College Dublin and Birmingham University, Deirdre has worked in both social work and management. Working in child protection, foster care, probation, disability, adoption and with minority ethnic groups has given her a clear understanding of the challenges that face every member of society. Through her work with individuals, families and communities, she has enabled people to address challenges, linked them to appropriate resources and sought solutions within the clients’ environment to improve wellbeing. Deirdre brings this extensive experience to Here2Help where she can support the diverse needs of those who require assistance.
Colleen Carr, Social Worker/Crisis Pregnancy Counsellor
Colleen earned her master’s in social science from UCD and has gathered valuable experience in child protection, fostering, adoption, medical social work and social work counselling. She is currently employed as a Crisis Pregnancy Counsellor/Social Worker within Here2Help where can provide support, counselling and information to anyone affected by a crisis pregnancy. Colleen also works with birth parents who are considering placing their child for adoption and provides information and support throughout the complex adoption process. Colleen works to provide a professional, comprehensive and caring service to all clients who approach Here2Help.
Mary Stammers, Post Abortion Counsellor
Mary has a B.Sc. (Honours) Degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy from Middlesex University. Mary’s approach is person centred. She has significant experience in post abortion counselling. Mary incorporates into her work a wealth of knowledge from many different disciplines spanning 15 years of self-inquiry in a heart-felt, compassionate and non-judgemental way.
Pauline Senchyna, Social Worker/Information and Tracing
Having worked for many years in the private sector and as a business owner Pauline returned to University College Dublin in 2015 to complete her Master’s in Social Work. She is currently employed as a Social Worker in Here2Help assisting in the post-adoption information and tracing area. Pauline has been involved with birth mother support groups for over ten years and is keenly aware of the complicated emotional feelings one can experience while embarking on a search and possible reunion. Pauline works to provide support and guidance to all those who embark on their journey to get information or find their birth families.
Noelle Healy, Social Worker/Information and Tracing
Noelle has been employed as a part time Social Worker in the area of Information and Tracing at Here2Help since 2012, having worked in both areas of Information and Tracing and Intercountry Adoption with Here2Helps sister Agency Pact, since 2003. Noelle’s previous experience as a social worker with children and families since 1996, includes that gained within the fields of drug treatment services, community care, and within the Criminal Justice system.
