David Godfrey – Chairman

David is the chair of Here2Help. Following twelve years in the printing industry, he was accepted for ordination within the Church of Ireland. This led to almost forty years of experience in the management of parish administration and also participation in Diocesan and national and ecumenical structures. A major part of this work involved chairing meetings and negotiating with government departments and service providers. In addition, he is a trustee of a national youth organisation. Since 2006 David Godfrey has been a Board member of Here2Help.

Patricia Smyth – Vice-Chair

Patricia is a retired professionally qualified social worker with over 35 years experience in practitioner and management roles both in the statutory and voluntary social work services. Over 20 years of her career encompassed supervisory, management and advisory roles within the adoption services, principally with the Adoption Authority of Ireland and earlier with Pact. Throughout her career she served on several Committees and on a major Research Project established to improve Adoption Services, to advance and to consolidate legislative reform in this area and promote standards of excellence in the practice of social work in adoption.

David Holmes – FCA FCCA

David, a chartered accountant, was a senior partner in O’Connor, Leddy & Holmes for 21 years from 1979 to 2000 and during that time also assisted in the establishment of Century Finance Limited, a hire purchase and leasing company, which was subsequently sold and became part of Irish Life & Permanent. He then left to establish his own Corporate Development Consultancy and advise existing companies and start-up ventures.

David advised a diverse array of companies and became a shareholder director of Harvest Global Asset Management Ltd, a successful fund management company, which has since been sold. He helped found and develop RiverDocs , which created new technology for enabling visually impaired and handicapped people access documents on the Web and assisted in raising finance and equity for it and other businesses. He was group company secretary to an Irish IT company which has since become part of a larger international group.

Peter Glynne

Peter is a management consultant with PwC specialising in the delivery of large and complex change. He has over fifteen years consulting experience within the public sector having worked across central government, education, health and justice in both Ireland and the UK.

Peter was previously Head of Change and Programme Management at Westminster City Council. He was Chair of Straight Talking for 4 years, a leading UK charity in the provision of peer education to support teenage pregnancy and young parenthood. Peter holds a masters degree in project management and is also a qualified company secretary (ICSA: the Governance Institute).

Carol Reynolds

Carol was a national school teacher for many years specialising in the area of learning support and special needs.  Carol is also involved with Mothers’ Union, in particular running parenting courses for the wider community. Her work in both of these areas has meant that she has a wide ranging and holistic view of families, parents and children. Carol considers it a privilege to be on the Board of Here2help and to be enabled to use my experience to support the work of the organization.

Claire Bruton

Claire is a practising barrister specialising in employment and equality law.  Claire appears regularly in employment law and civil courts for employees and employers dealing with statutory claims, breach of contract, injunctions, judicial review, personal injuries, etc.  Claire is also a published author and regular speaker on employment law issues at conferences and seminars.

Deirdre Pemberton, Services Manager

Since qualifying from Trinity College Dublin and Birmingham University as a social worker, Deirdre has worked in a wide range of settings as both a social worker and a manager.

“Working in Child Protection, foster care, probation, disability, adoption and with minority ethnic groups has given me an understanding of the challenges that face every member of our society at different times in their lives. I hope that through my work with individuals, families and communities, I have facilitated people to identify their own strengths to address challenges, linked them to appropriate resources and sought solutions within the clients’ environment to improve wellbeing”.

Deirdre brings this experience to Here2Help and believes that it has all helped her to support the diverse needs of those who come to Here2Help for a service.

Colleen Carr, Social Worker/Crisis Pregnancy Counsellor

Colleen completed a Bachelor of Social Science Degree in UCD in 2007 and qualified as a Social Worker upon completion of a Masters in Social Science ( Social Work) in 2009 from UCD.

Colleen began her social work career with the Child and Family Agency – Tusla, in 2010 where she was employed for over four years. During this period, Colleen worked in the Dublin North City area and gained valuable experience in the area of child protection, children in care, fostering and adoption. After a number of years in this field, Colleen decided to embark on a new challenge and moved into the different yet equally interesting area of medical social work, taking up a post in one of Irelands leading Children’s hospitals.

This role led Colleen to develop a real interest in a social work counselling role and she decided to move to Here2Help in 2016 where she is currently employed as a Crisis Pregnancy Counsellor/ Social Worker.

At Here2Help, Colleen works within our Crisis Pregnancy Counselling Service providing support, counselling and information to anyone affected by a crisis pregnancy. Colleen also works with birth parents who are considering placing their child for adoption and provides information and support throughout the complex adoption process.  Colleen works to provide a professional, comprehensive and caring service to all clients who attend Here2Help.

Noelle Healy, Social Worker/Information and Tracing. 

Noelle has been employed as a part-time Social Worker in the area of Information and Tracing at Here2Help since 2012, having worked in both areas of Information and Tracing and Intercountry Adoption with Here2Helps sister Agency Pact, since 2003.

Noelle’s previous experience as a social worker with children and families since 1996, includes that gained within the fields of drug treatment services, community care, and within the Criminal Justice system.

Mary Stammers, Post Abortion Counsellor. 

Mary has a B.Sc. (Honours) Degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy from Middlesex University.

Mary’s approach is person centred.  She has significant experience in post abortion counselling.

Mary incorporates into her work a wealth of knowledge from many different disciplines spanning 15 years of self-inquiry in a heart-felt, compassionate and non judgemental way.
